Healing comes in many forms and this is one of them.
Cosmic Dance is based on a centuries-old story about Baba Mimoun, a mystic healer that is said to have come from Sudan (called the “Sudani”). This song invokes his name.
Willing to weather any storm, devotees would anticipate his arrival in hopes to receive his healing powers. Baba Mimoun would arrive wearing his 7-color dress, a Shashiya (Gnawa cap) and a "Guembri" or "Sentir" as his musical, healing tool. He would play Gnawa music all night long; the trance-inducing music which is a rich tradition in Morocco, was inherited from the roots of West Africa (most likely Mali).
Anyone in Baba Mimoun’s midst would go into trance, and by dawn the miracles could be seen; any ailments they had would disappear... It is said that the mere mention of Baba Mimoun's name will bring healing into your life. Sing along!
